What players can the Reds trade to grab some assets?

Iím to the point that we ainít getting to the playoffs. The 1-8 start combined with inconsistency and a hard schedule pretty much did October in. Now, who can we trade that will bring back anything at all? Puig? Roark? Iglesias(either or both)? Winker? Is anyone untouchable? Scooterísi injury pretty much screwed up his value. I donít know if we have one player except for Castillo that would bring back anything of value. Thoughts?

I would look to flip one of the AAA mashers(O'Grady, Aquino, or VanMeter) for a bullpen arm.

I grab them without having to trade anything.

I prefer the opposite. We have Lots of bullpens arms. Garrett probably back tomorrow, Reed in a couple weeks. Trade Igleias, install Kuehnel and/or Lorenzen as closer.

    We need hitters.
The lowest acceptable payroll amount for ownership to show they are not greedy pigs is 15 million more than they are currently paying. No matter what that currently is.

I think Longhi and one of the questionable starters (Keury Mella) ought to get it done.

    No we don't.

Hernandez has been ineffective, at best. Iglesias is moody if he isn't in a save situation. Hughes has fallen back to earth and looks extremely average. Lorenzen can only do so much. Stephenson could fall apart at any time. Reed isn't trustworthy, at all.

Puig is going to be tantalizing rental for a lot of teams who want to catch lightning in a bottle. Roark could fetch a mid-tier prospect if a team starts getting desperate for MOR arms, maybe Dietrich or Scooter if you can convince teams the upside is high enough. But I think punting away young, cost-controlled talent with many years left and time to improve would be wasteful. You’d be selling low on most of these players, and I don’t think there’s a reasonable price for contending teams to pay for Castillo.

Question is, can we even trust this front office to ADD better players in any trade? Chapman trade still pisses me off

I dont think Puig, Dietrich, or Iglesias net much in a return. Roark or Disco might with Roark bringing back more IMO. I see one big thing to overcome with regards to making any great moves and thats convincing Bob C that its the right thing to do. I dont see him letting Dick and Nick deal much of anything which means this team will have to get better in the offseason. Id like to see catcher and LF upgraded. Maybe even a SS if Perazas not the guy. Id also like to see the Reds get a couple high leverage arms to pair with Garret and Lorenzen.

I know the offense has been horrid but just last year this group was pretty dang good. Im almost more inclined to re sign Puig, find a LF that can really really hit and load up that bullpen. Castillo, Gray, Mahle, Disco, and Sims or someone else would be fine IMO. The bullpen needs to be lights out tho. Its what the Yankees did this year and the Royals won a WS with a stud pen

Yes, let’s start five more trade threads.

To be fair it's not the entire same clown show it was when they gave Chapman away for nothing.. That's not to say I have a hell of a lot of confidence in them as is now, but a few faces did change in the FO since then..

Just no more trades for the sake of trades threads.. The ones that drive me over the wall are those who expect the team to acquire the moon, stars and the sun for nobodies AS IF trades just occur in a vacuum on the whims of know nothing fans..

Worked for the Yankees getting Chapman from the Reds.

Surely there are other Front Offices just as stupid, or are the Reds the only ones who get fleeced on the regular?

Nick Senzel could probably still get a pretty good return. Tanner Roark too. He’s probably the best tradable asset the Reds have right now among the veterans.
