Thom officially coming right out and complaining about the game in the first inning.
I dont care, Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. Hes in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.

Love the way Van Meter always makes the pitcher work.
The lowest acceptable payroll amount for ownership to show they are not greedy pigs is 15 million more than they are currently paying. No matter what that currently is.

The 1961 Reds were 93-61, and won the National League. The Reds lost to the Yankees in the World Series, 4 games to 1. The Reds were managed by Fred Hutchinson.

The Reds had the day off on July 21, 1961. It would seem plausible that the scheduled game was rained out, as July 21 was a Friday, and the Reds played at home vs. the Giants on Saturday and a doubleheader on Sunday (possibly a makeup game).

The lineup for Saturday, July 22, an 8-3 loss at Crosley Field vs. the Giants that extended the Reds' losing streak to six (all at home):

    Eddie Kasko ss
    Don Blasingame 2b
    Vada Pinson cf
    Frank Robinson rf
    Gordy Coleman 1b
    Gus Bell lf
    Gene Freese 3b
    Johnny Edwards c
    Ken Hunt p
Eric Stratton, Rush Chairman. Damn glad to meet ya.

One thing you definitely want out of a sports announcer is a desire for the game to be over right after it begins.

I was 10 that summer. That was the year I became a lifelong Reds fan. Gordy was my guy !
