Adrian Rodriguez worked 7 innings of 1-hit baseball tonight. For the year, Rodriguez has a 4.91 ERA in 26 appearances out of the bullpen. However, in five starts this season, Adrian has yet to allow an earned run in 26.1 innings.

Not sure if a reassessment of individual players is a natural result of the season's big prospect shakeup, but I think two guys that bear some real consideration going forward and a possibly bump in prospect status are Jose Garcia and Stuart Fairchild. Neither is off the radar by any means, and Garcia seems to be getting his due as he has continued to warm up throughout the season and looks like he'll finish strong.

Fairchild, the former early second round pick, has had a really fine season. In 281 PA at Daytona, he put up a wRC+ of 130. The slashline - .258/.335/.440 - won't blow you away, but of course it was in the FSL.

Since a mid-season bump to Chattanooga, in a 146 PA, he's posted a wRC+ of 145. The slashline is tastier .276/.370/.465. His walk rate is 8.9 percent, his strikeout rate 15.1 percent and his ISO is a really nice .189. Those will all play, especially if he can capably man CF.

Since being drafted out of Wake Forest, his peripherals have consistently improved across the board: walk rate is up, strikeout rate is down, ISO is up. He seems to be a reasonably good outfielder with Fangraphs rating his speed as 55/55, his fielding as 50/55 and arm at 60/60. He's hardly a toolshed, but he's another guy that if he continues to improve at his current rate could turn into another VanMeter and possibly solve the CF issue.

It hasn't been a particularly fun season on the farm, but I do think there are some guys that can probably help going forward. The emergence of VanMeter and Aquino as guys who look like legit major league players is reason to be a bit sanguine about some of the also-rans in the minors and the possibility that the Reds broke development system might be able to shine up a few prospects.

This club is in such a bad way they need impact guys to make a difference and give them a chance going forward. That is the only way they can be competitive in the future.
    They have none.

Fangraohs updated their top 100. Both Downs and Gray are in, 1 and 3 spots behind Lodolo. Trammel still around 30 or so. System would look ok if they didn’t deplete it for absolute ****
