I'm hoping the Reds bring back Galvis & Iglesias and cut bait on Peraza. I can get behind a rotating trio of Iglesias, Galvis & VanMeter (2B only) manning SS & 2B next year.

Reds have guys to back up.

    Creative work by FO.
It allows them flexibility with other areas of need.

I would focus on CF, C and the bullpen. Move Senzel to 2B (VanMeter becomes the LHH Utility).

2019: $4M (Reds will assume the prorated amount of around $1.1M).

    2020: $5.5M team option, $1M buyout

    Why and what it means:

He can help this year, but it's also a move that looks to 2020. He's a switch-hitter that can play SS and 2B. He's also dabbled in the outfield and at 3B.

That fits into the Reds ongoing efforts to have flexible and versatile players on the roster.

He's a good to plus defender with good pop that should play even better at GABP. He also has a solid reputation in the clubhouse.

The Reds will have two months to toss him into the middle infield mix and evaluate him. He's also security if Jose Iglesias can't be signed this offseason.

If the Reds pick up the 2020 option at $5.5M they have a shortstop at below market salary.

Another solid move by our front office. From the offseason til now, you cant say this staff has done nothing. We have been very active and seem to have hit on solid players (Iglesias, DD and now Galvis) for nothing. Love where this front office is taking this team.

Grandal and bullpen. CF backup for Senzel. My plan A.

Another path is a starter like Alex Wood.

Senzel to second? Not sure they want to move him again, but certainly possible.

Would like to see Wood resigned if he finishes season strong. This staff really needs a lefty, and Wood is not a bad option.

I think Galvis and Iggy both is doubtful.

Owed $1.01M this year based on Toronto's games played.

Reds don’t need a lefty starter. Not a necessity.

Cueto, Bailey, Latos, Leake, Arroyo, Simon all RHP.

Need lefties in pen for situational matchups.

If Wood finishes strong he’s expensive. Some want him, we’ll see what Reds think soon enough.

Iglesias is probably moving on so we have some insurance at a position of need heading into next season.

    Switch-hitter
    GABP Power
    Great Defense

    Good move, IMO.

What teams are actually looking for SS's next year? If there are a lot then that likely means Iglesias is gone and will play the market.

Good pickup. I also think this means the end for Iglesias at the end of this season. Glavis salary is bascially set for next season and they can figure that into the budget now.

A measly $1 mill to see if a strong defensive shortstop with an OPS just shy of .750 this season can fit into next year's plans. Pretty nice value there.
I dont care, Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. Hes in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.
