Votto should have thrown after he tagged first.

Only question was whether he should have gone to 2nd first..... probably not.

Ok so how did they score? I saw double play and then noticed it’s 1-0. On a plane about to fly but watched on At-Bat app.

I remember one time going out to the mound to talk with Bob Gibson. He told me to get back behind the batter, that the only thing I knew about pitching was that it was hard to hit.

Runner crossed plate before third out. It was not a force.

I'd bet if Brandon Phillips would have been playing first base, he'd have been on top of it and whipped the throw home in short order, which would have caught Farmer out of position.

I don't think they would have been able to get the runner at the plate -- Robles runs too well. And I don't think they could have gotten a 3-6-3 DP, either. The only way they could get two outs was the way they did -- unfortunately, the runner crossed the plate before the tag was made at 2nd.

So if Votto had thrown to second and then the ball had been thrown back to him for the out no run but I assume he tagged first and then threw to second?

I still appreciate it but it should be noted that Elvis Andrus was the real Baby Shark original in baseball.

No way, if he goes to 2nd he gets just one out and the run scores. Taking the out at first was the right thing, and while he's doing that assess what to do next, but he's got to do it right away. Votto was just as oblivious as the TV crew.
