During this .215 BA stretch, Aquino has put up a .745 OPS. If that’s a what he puts up during a slump, he’ll be more than fine. In fact, if he puts up a .745 OPS playing solid defense in RF all season, he’ll be a league average RF.

I assume Aquino’s “earliest to hit the Xth home run” streak is over by now. What number did it end at?

I'm far from giving Aquino a pass, but during this slump he's hit a bunch of balls really hard right at people. Seems at least once a game he's hit a rope that ended up an out.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!
It is on the whole probable that we continually dream, but that consciousness makes such a noise that we do not hear it. Carl Jung.
I don't see how you can go into next year with him penciled in as your starter at this point. If he had some huge pedigree and sustained success in the minors like Senzel it would be one thing. But, he came from nowhere, had an incredible month and hasn't been good the last few weeks.
If you plan on competing you need to pick someone up to hedge your bets. Which means yet another bat. Which makes it 3 good bats I would say if you want to realistically compete.
Not sure how that would work. Corey Dickerson is probably going to command at least $10 million per season. He currently is at $8.5 million.
If that estimate is right - Reds can't spend that much for an insurance policy player who's Aquino's backup until AA shows if he's on track. Reds have too many other needs.
Only if Dickerson is much cheaper would this work without other trades. Maybe the market for Dickerson will be weak, who knows.

I think Aquino will be fine. I think Bell has ridden him too hard in Aug/Sept. I think he's tired and burned out. Let him re-boot over the Winter and let's give him a fresh start in Goodyear. How many days off has Bell given him? Minor league guys aren't used to playing this many games in Aug/Sept
The best way to protect against an Aquino slide is to add to the lineup. Lengthen the lineup with hitters at either catcher, second base, even shortstop. The best offenses have some offense up the middle.
In a more formidable lineup, Aquino will have lots of protection. As things now stand, his only protection is Suarez due to a generally weak lineup, injuries, illnesses, etc.

Senzel had sustained minor league success?
He came from nowhere? I guess that's true. I mean it wasn't like he was the Red minor league hitter of the year at one point. Or that he showed tremendous power in the FSL. He faced advanced pitching in AA and struggled with contact, but not power. He remade his swing, and exploded with the talent the Reds always believed he had. And now pitchers have made an adjustment to him, and he has to follow suit. He's inexpensive, under team control, and the team has more pressing needs than RF... like CF and LF and 2B and SS, and closer, and 4th SP and 5th SP...
