Yankees had two DHs that couldn't make contact. If Votto wasn't a no-trade, I'd offer him to the Yankees

Astros. They got my respect on their way to beating the team of destiny. Good team- in 6. But do something about this Alverez fellow.

Has there ever been such a 6-pack of pitchers in the WS?

Not that I was unhappy the Nats beat the Cards but I think it would have been interesting to see HOU and StL in the World Series and then everybody has to bring up the Cards hacking the Astros computer system.

Absolutely...the 1971 World Series between PIT and BAL:

Also, that was the season when the Orioles had the four 20 game winners- Jim Palmer, Dave McNally, Pat Dobson, and Mike Cuellar.

I'll link to all the B-R pages but I don't think you can come up with 6 guys that match the ones I listed, without appealiing to "Wins" or innings pitched that led to more production.

Remember. I harmlessly said 6 guys. I do think 2001 may eek out an advantage over this year's guys. Clemens/Mussina/Big Unit/Schilling/Pettite and 1 other guy of one's choice.

But 1971, nah. But if you think so I won't argue further.

    1969 wasn't bad either:

Cuellar,McNally and Palmer. Seaver,Koosman and Gentry;with Nolan Ryan thrown into the bullpen for good measure.

I was merely expressing my opinion. I certainly haven't made a study of baseball things throughout my life...I just have memories of things I have enjoyed.

1999 had a pretty good six pack of starting pitchers. The Braves had Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine and John Smoltz while the Yankees had Roger Clemens, David Cone and Andy Pettite. While the Braves trio had the more impressive combined careers, the Yankees swept the Braves 4-0.

I’ll take that 01 bunch. That was the peak of steroid ball.

That’s the problem. At least a third of those pitchers were on PED’s that we know of.

Innings pitches is a real factor.

We don’t know what this year’s group’s numbers would look like if they pitched back in the 70’s and were expected to pitch a near compete games every time out.
