Two of Grandal, Moustakas, Gregorious, Castellanos & Dickerson would be nice (but hey, I'm a Reds fan, I'm comfortable with disappointment).

So do I. Because if the Reds are serious about competing next year, and they KNOW they have to upgrade offensive production, you don't place that solely on the backs of two unproven rookies in their first year who simply show potential. The Red's need to get out of this "finger crossing" approach.

    Didi Gregorious 3 years $48 Million ($15, $16, $17)
    Yasmani Grandal 2 Years $42 Million ($19, $21, option for 3rd year at $23 with a $2 Buyout)
Scooter Gennett (1 year $3 Million with incentives that could get him as high as $12 Million)
    Will Smith 3 years $33 Million ($10, $11, $12)

Cut loose Gausman, Peraza, Dietrich, Galvis, Schebler and trade Barnhart for whatever. Let Jose Iglesias and Alex Wood walk.

$50MM this off-season would buy should buy a playoff contender.

Grandal and Gregorius would, IMO, make it close.

At least two OF would have to break out.

What does anyone think of JD Martinez?

Only if the NL gets the DH. Everything I’ve read has suggested him for other AL teams if he opts out. He shouldn’t be in the OF.

There aren't any young guys coming. These guys allow them to compete until reinforcements arrive. .

Found a good article on his defense. Not terrible, but not going to get better at his age. Another reason the NL needs to DH to get equal opportunities on talent.

What I heard was on MLB trade rumors via his agent, so I’m sure there was spin.

I like mth's plan Sign Grandal and Gregorious, fill 2 big holes until TySteve and Garcia are ready. And it should be doable money wise. It's realistic and gives them a shot in 2020 and 2021 and bridges the time needed to finish baking the guys previously mentioned.
