    Offer Gausman arbitration?

I don't think we talked about this yet in depth.
He's projected to make 10.6 million in arbitration here:

He seemed to do quite well in relief, but that's kind of steep for a reliever. OTOH, are the Reds going to find anyone that's better?

Another option would be to plan on him being the 5th starter. He's likely to be better than Mahle or anyone else currently in house. He would help provide depth in the rotation if injuries occurred.

    Poll coming..

If the front office can't find similar production from a reliever for half that money then they should all be fired. I like Gausman, but would never give up that much to keep him.

This shows how screwed up the arbitration system is. Here's a guy who hasn't shown that he can hold down a spot in a starting rotation or in back of the bullpen yet so this system values him at 8 figures/yr? If they want him for anything close to that, talk to his agent. They'd jump at any offer close to that figure

Whoever voted yes needs to explain themselves...

Homer Bailey had a better year than Gausman. Martin Perez had a better year than Gausman. The Reds can do better.

Absolutely not. The combined cost of he and Peraza would pay for Didi Gregorious. Cut them loose.

If they are not planning on it, wouldn't they have removed him from the 40 along with the others earlier this week?

They have until late November or early December. They may be trying to work out a reduced cost deal or possibly a trade to some team that likes to waste money.

I'm really stupid and hit the wrong option. So one of those "yes" votes is from me, but it was by mistake.
I'm just going to go find a cash machine.

There is zero chance that the Reds offer him arbitration.

they could be hoping to negotiate a contract if he wants to avoid FA

I voted yes without looking at the projection. That's absolutely ridiculous. Why is he projected to get that much?
