    How stacked was the NL in the 60s? Reds won 98 games in 1962 and finished in 3rd. 10 games over in 1963 and finished 5th. Won 92 games in 1964 and finished in 2nd a game out. In 1966 in July they were only 3 games below .500 and were still 11.5 games out of 1st. They eventually finished 7th and 8 games below .500. Unless you were playing the Mets, Cubs and HOU, you had to bring your lunch when you played the other teams. StL, LA and SF for most of the 60s were just fantastic. PIT won it all in 1960 and PHI was starting to get good. MIL wasn't as good as they were in the 50s but they had Aaron and Matthews and were still tough.
