Poor Zach.. Went to LA and got rich, but his BA fell off a cliff. He probably kind of wishes he'd have stayed in Cincinnati, but it's tough to pass up $26M ..

Another case of - former Red hits the market, why not reacquire him? No, not in this case.

The Reds showed good timing in allowing Cozart to depart. Reds now need to move onward with more durable, healthier players.

If he wants to sign a minor league contract with a spring training invite it would make sense to bring him into the fold. We aren't exactly deep at SS, if Blake Trahan is going to be the SS at AAA, might as well roll Cozart out there and see if there is anything left as a depth option.

Hard no on any sort of major league contract.

    Re: Zach Cozart DFA

If Cozart makes a complete comeback, he's likely to be similar to Galvis. Low OBP, some power, strong defense. The Reds need an alternative who gets on base more. Galvis, Aquino, Moustakas, pitcher's spot runs the risk of half the line-up with an OBP of .315 or lower. There will be some HR's and they may go on a streak where they are all hitting for power, but over 162 games they'll have a lot of down periods where it's too easy for the opposing pitcher to get guys out. Guys like Barnhart and Votto will get on base more, but their overall hitting is likely to be below average as well. That's too many flawed spots in the line-up.

    Look elsewhere. Please!!

Has anyone checked in lately to see if Jeff Shaw wants to come back?
My dad got to enjoy 3 Reds World Championships by the time he was my age. So far, I've only gotten to enjoy one. Step it up Redlegs!

I know you are kidding, but he's got a cool $12.6M waiting on him this year even if he sits on the couch. Not bad.

Reds just missed on Frazier. He just signed with the Rangers. Other than him they could get the 2015 team back together again.

Last I heard, 2/3 of the earth was covered by water, and the rest was covered by Chris Denorfia.

Even if he's down to 25%, we still have to bring him in.

Zach Cozart has one arm now...signing him to any kind of contract is akin to pining for an ex-gf after a few beers. Just take a look at his stats over the last 2 years, many pitchers have better numbers.

Well, nobody's saying they should sign him to be bullpen help, although now that you mention it. . . .
