Pre-Season Predictions: What Red(s) will represent NL in all-star game?

I'm hoping that Griffey plays well enough to make the NL squad this year, but with Jack McKeon picking the reserves, I figure Junior would have to be voted in as a starter in order to make it. Maybe Casey, or perhaps a token farewell gesture to Barry Larkin.

On the other side of the field, how many Yankees can there be on the AL squad? Torre is picking the reserves. He can't take all 25, but seriously, he probably could.

I think Kearns has a good chance to make it, if he's fully recovered. Same with Dunn, since he made it last year and has all the potential in the world. Griffey will make it if he's completely healthy and back to his old self, but I obviously wouldn't count on that for half a season. Jiminez has an outside shot, if he proves what he did with the Reds last year wasn't a fluke. I don't think Casey has a snowball's chance in hell to make it.

I don't think Jimmeniz has a chance to be an all star.
Too many quality/flashy 2b. And he has no name recognition.
Remember, this is a guy that could've been acquired by anyone
a few months ago. While he had a good season since arriving,
I doubt most people outside of Cincy (including McKeon) are
    that impressed.

Unless one of the OF sets the world on fire,
I expect Casey to be the token rep, regardless of stats.
Particularly since McKeon is picking the team, and he loves Casey.

i'm going to go against the grain and say Ryan Wagner or Jose Acevedo (please).

but then again, Mike Williams was an All-Star last year, so i guess that means Haynes could make it.

I'll say that the All-Star rep will be Austin Kearns. If something happens and Kearns gets hurt or doesn't play well, my guess is that closer Danny Graves will the default rep, and we'll all want to bash our heads with blunt objects.

    Larue.

Dunn, Kearns and Griffey are playing against injuries and a loaded outfield (Sosa, Bonds, Berkman, Edmonds, Jones, et al.). Jiminez is playing against a loaded field at 2nd. The Reds would be hard pressed to include a pitcher when their staff is likely to be considered in the bottom tier of the league.

If Piazza moves to first, who does Larue have to compete against to gain a spot? If Larue produces a decent average with decent power, he has much less competition to hurdle.

...and if that happens, Larue needs to be traded at the deadline, as we'll never be able to afford him next year and his value will never be higher for us.

I would really like to see Larkin go as a thank you to him. He deserves one last harrah. But I think I speak for him and for all of us that he'd rather get another series ring than an all-star game appearance in his last year as a player.

    Juan Castro.

After Lark goes down Castro is going to put up these godly numbers and the NL won't be able to ignore him anymore

    .232 with an OB of .255, an OPS of .602, 5 HR's, 17 RBI's, 0 SB's, 6 DBL's, 0 TR
