after all, what is sainthood? at least 4 miracles?

miracle 1: wins pour out of waiver claim Schourek like water from the rock struck by the (head of the) staff?

miracle 2: Jeff Brantley, once blind to the strike zone, now he could see?

miracle 3: Jeff Shaw, once water, now wine?

miracle 4: Jimmy Haynes' win total miraculously multiplies, like loaves and fish, to feed the hungry masses?
    2015, baby!

Haynes could very well end up with a 14-13 to 16-14 record. He is our version of former Texas pitcher and current Diamondback Rick Helling. Give him the run support and he will be the benficiary of a win.

Reds up 8-2, going to the 9th.

FCB, looks like you'll soon be on the hook for 1/2 a kid.

Has anyone checked to see if Jimmy's using the same locker that Jack Armstrong used in 1990?

And princeton - how long 'til we start discussing whether Haynes is a "stopper"?

This thread is classic and hoping to see it reappear every 5th day after another splendid Haynes outing.

Heheheh...umm fellas, only 6 to go now...and RILA, it's 8 wins and only 6 losses. At this rate, Haynes finishes with 16 or 17 wins. Oh, and I like Saint Don fellas

BTW FCB, how old is he?

Still one of the funnier threads on the site.

Man I'd like to see us have to crown Gullet "Saint Don"...is there anyone here who wouldn't???

We win tomorrow and we'll have a FANTASTIC start on the road trip heading into the Redbirds nest.

I say Jimmy easily gets #9 before the All-Star break ! His performance on the mound is not exactly a thing of beauty to watch, but he does get the job done.

Me thinks you're going down FCB!!

OK, what I want to know is if FCB's kid just goes to one of us or does everyone get a turn with him, like they do with the Stanley Cup? WoY's got grden work for him to do, GAC can have him a couple of days and have him on mole patrol. Creek can have him do stuff around the house for her for a few days. I'm sure most of the Zoners here have some chores for the young man to do.

    (divine knowledge?)

BTW, one thing that's interesting about Haynes this year is that in the past, he has had very good stuff. And lost with it, consistently. This year, the stuff is not there. So I'm confused-- if you take good stuff away from a loser, how does he suddenly become a potential 14 game winner?

makes you wonder how he's going to pitch if his stuff returns? Better? or worse?

Jimmy Haynes-- this is one guy that I'd never care to project.

I hate to be the voice of reason in this humorous thread, but I don't think Jimmy is going to make 14 wins. Princeton is onto something here. Haynes has not had particularly good stuff. He's just been a lot more LUCKY than in previous years.

Prior to his start Wednesday, his support neutral record was 4.3 wins and 5.6 losses. His actual record was 7-6.

    http://www.baseballprospectus.com/current/snwlreport02.html

He is just about #1 in the league (see the same link above) in the category of "Starters most helped by their relievers (ranked by Bullpen Support)."

In other words, I wouldn't have bet my first born on it... but the safe money says Jimmy won't make it to 14 even if he improves his command slightly.

SC, we are about to enter July....a very unfriendly month for Jimmy in the past....his career ERA goes up by over half a run next month.

    We will see.

So, um, who exactly do we contact in the Vatican? Does John Paul II handle this beatification stuff directly, or does he have some staff or a committee that does the initial legwork?

Jimmy Haynes will get a shot at win #10 against the Brewers. Yes, Jimmy Haynes could have 10 wins at the all star break.

Forget about Jimmy pitching, can he play SS/3B on his off days?

If Haynes gets 17 wins, he should BE the Pope.
