Tsk Tsk - late for work Sandy

I never understood that.

My last boss in the same company I work for, if I showed up even 30 seconds late, I was in the dog house. Didn't matter that I do my best work in the mornings, I hate dilly dallying so I always get right to work, while others, who arrive on time, sit and eat breakfast and drink coffee for half an hour.

Oh well, it really, really broke my heart to accept that promotion and raise meaning I had to move on to another department.

I once worked for a boss who expected everyone to punch in EXACTLY at 8am, not 1 minute before, not 1 minute after.

My current boss actually gives 5 minutes grace period. After that, you get docked a half hour leave time. Which means ... you might as well be 30 minutes late. You also get a reprimand in your employee file. He just goes ballistic when anyone is late. President of a small insurance company, he spends a good portion of his day spying on us.

By some miracle, though, I made it. Just a little closer than I like to cut it, though.

Now, I was late getting back from lunch because the elevators were broken, and the door to the stair well was locked.

Yeah, I lived in Tucson for 4 years. After the second summer, even I didn't believe the standard responsse "yeah, but it's a dry heat" when it topped 110.

I lived in Tucson for 6 years, and I loved the way the weather reports always forecast 99degrees. We knew better. They just said 99 degrees, and it would end up 105 and 106, etc.

Used to work at a printing company that was located at the back end of Tohono Chul state park. There was a trail that started right behind our parking lot. I used to sneak back there on my lunch break. It was about a mile and a half trail, with several covered picnic pavillions. So I'd walk until I was ready to eat. I'd have lunch, read, and watch the desert life. It was so refreshing after spending the morning amid the noise of copy machines, bindery machines and the tedium of my job.

Oh man, I've got a list a mile long of yard chores today.

My grass is supposed to be brown and baked by now and grow 1 mm a week. Instead, it looks like mid-May grass, green, lush, and growing like gang-busters.

Good day to do it on though. I don't mind really. Makes that 6 PM beer on the patio go down smooth.
