Well, now that I've gotten myself all sorts of pissy about work, I have to go there. At least I know they're paying me a lot to be there today, and I'm going to put every single minute of it on the OT form!

Well, I work 7 to 7. No time for lunch. If I leave the building for lunch, I have to take vacation time. I always get there NLT 645 so the night guys can tell me what went on. And I never leave before 715, so I can tell the night guys what went on. Yes, they could come early or stay late, but they choose not too. We all started out as equals. I put in the extra time. I now make a lot more money than they do. A lot. More than I would make if I put the extra 1/2 hour on my time sheet. Maybe instead of putting the OT on a sheet, you should talk to your boss about your dedication and ask for a promotion.
Will trade this space for a #1 starter.
Rosie, your time is valuable. I know it is to me. I would fill out OT for any time I was there over 15 min. more than scheduled. If they don't like it, they will more than likely find some way for you to get your work done without working OT. And, if they don't, you get paid OT. Or perhaps you could work it out where they give you comp time instead of OT. Me, I'd rather get paid and I have made my feelings known about that in the past. Of course I have a union behind me but, still, if you are there and have to work, you should get paid.
My thoughts exactly. Does everyone have me on ignore this afternoon?Originally Posted by Chip R

My extra 20k is more important to me than a 1/2 hour. But then, I like money.Originally Posted by Red Leader

Oh, I would agree with that. As I stand now, I am incredibly underpaid considering the quality of work I do vs the others and the time I put in, and I know there is no way I'll be getting a promotion no matter how well I perform, so that's why, in my case, making sure I put in every minute of OT is neccessary.Originally Posted by creek14

I don't mind that. Especially when it's playing My Launchcast. If I don't like it, I skip it and tell it to not play anymore. If I like it, I rate it. Of course mine isn't that loud.Originally Posted by Red Leader

Rosie, the way I look at it is you've got 2 options:
1.) Fill in the OT form for every blessed second over what is expected and extract your $$$ from your employer.
2.) Put in the time, don't charge them for it, but make darn well sure your boss knows you're doing it because you're a dedicated worker.
#1 is short term gain, #2 is longer term.
As a salaried person, I'm in the same boat creek is (figuratively that is, I don't sail on the U.S.S. Creek), i.e. whatever it takes to get the job done.
Which means, they get a hell of lot more than 40 hours a week out of me. For example, I've been putting in 12-14 hr. days since the beginning of November plus about 10-15 hours on the weekend. Yeah, occasionally when things are slow, I'll knock off early, but those days are few and far between. But, they compensate me well for it (bonuses+options=not have to worry about kids' college so much anymore) and I have enormous freedom in what I do, where I do it, and how it gets done. It's a double edge sword; lots of room to succeed, but lots of room to fail too. I just don't look down.
She used to wake me up with coffee ever morning
It's a hard knock life.

The Year Without a Santa Clause is on tonight at 7pm. (Heat Miser / Snow Miser). My son is so excited he almost couldn't sleep last night. I believe its on the Family Channel, or NBCfamily, one of those "family" stations.

Yea, that was a bummer about Nicole. I didn't even get to watch any of that show while she was on. Looking forward to South Park tonight, though.

MUSCO lighting did the lights in the stadiums for that movie. My late uncle's (by marriage) brother was the head of that company - still may be for all I know. Also my first cousin was a VP for them until a few years ago when he moved out to CA. My grandfather sold them gas till he retired.Originally Posted by Red Leader

My best friend from college was in the movie Gung Ho when he was like, 12. He made us watch it like 10000000 times when we were in college. It was filmed in PA.
