Really, what's the best stat to use? K/9?
You can't really go by ERA alone, or Pedro would be in a whole lot of trouble on my team.
For some reason, I always have trouble making pitching decisions. I tend to go by a combination of ERA and number of Ks.

K/9 and WHIP are good indicators. ERA is decent. If you're evaluating pitchers for fantasy purposes, you also have to look at the team they play for. Good teams = more wins.
