Bresnahan named new Bengals Defensive Coordinator

    By Mark Curnutte
    Enquirer staff writer

The Bengals this morning announced that Chuck Bresnahan has been hired as defensive coordinator.

“I’m enthused about the future of our defense, and about the experience that Chuck brings us,” Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said in a statement. “I have great confidence in his ability to oversee the development of a unit that has shown us a lot of potential.”

Bresnahan, 44, worked as an assistant coach on the Bengals staff since May 2004. He was Oakland Raiders defensive coordinator for four years.

“This is a great opportunity to build on the foundation that has been laid here,” Bresnahan said in the statement. “I got the chance last season to get familiar with the talented young players we have, and I’m excited about our future.”

He replaces Leslie Frazier, coordinator in 2003 and 2004, whose contract was not renewed after the season by Lewis.

"It's easier to give up. I'm not a very vocal player. I lead by example. I take the attitude that I've got to go out and do it. Because of who I am, I've got to give everything I've got to come back."

A blind man could see this coming, couldn't they?
