Now that I think about it, I really miss diners. At home there's as many diners as there are churches and bars. There's too many chains here, and few mom and pops.

Go to bar at 8:00 p.m. ............ go to diner at 3:00 a.m. .... go to church and confess bar sins in the morning.

I'm jealous. Katzinger's was the first place that came to mind when I was reading this thread. I've never found a better deli.

I don't like Texas-style barbecue -- dripping with sauce. Brisket should be slow-smoked without sauce. Sauce should be added as desired by the eater.

BTW - Most delis in Kansas are either chains like Subway or Mr. Goodcents, or they buy their meat and cheese pre-sliced. Ugh.

Serving the meat in sauce is heresy in this part of TX. Any good BBQ place worth its salt here serves the meat bare with sauce available at the table or at a condiment stand.

Used to wait tables at a diner in CT, a stone's throw over the NY border. Regular coffee was one cream, one sugar.

Trader Joe's is nationwide and it's totally awesome. We've got 'em all over Boston. Do they have stock? Can you buy a franchise? It's a goldmine if you can.
