Show will be separate from Donald Trump’s

    Updated: 4:20 p.m. ET Feb. 2, 2005

NEW YORK - Jailed homemaking entrepreneur Martha Stewart will return to television as the host of a new version of NBC’s reality show “The Apprentice,” her company’s Web site said Wednesday.

The new show will be called “The Apprentice: Martha Stewart,” according to a statement on the Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia Inc. Web site.

The original “Apprentice” features real estate mogul Donald Trump and a batch of would-be tycoons vying for a job working for him.

Stewart is expected to be released from prison next month after serving a five-month sentence for lying to investigators about a personal stock sale.

She also is due to serve five months in home confinement after her release.

Please, make it stop. Although I'm sure she'll be a much more pleasant TV personality than Trump, who comes off as a pompous, arrogant jerk with no personality. He's actually the worst part of his own show

I wonder what the prize will be? Will the winner get to be Martha's new broker?

What if this wasn't a rhetorical question?

One notable change will be the way the show ends. Instead of the Trump tradition of saying "you're fired", Martha will choose an unlucky participant, who will be roasted over an open fire and prepared for dinner by the remaining contestants.

    It's a good thing.

Or, if they are lucky... the losers will be paid minimum wage and have to work 40 hours/week at their local K-Mart.

Better than Wal-Mart... from what I read!

Since posing for Playboy is out for Martha, there is probably no way to make a splashier return to public view than starring in a Mark Burnett reality show.

And what a shame... that our society likes to put lawbreakers on TV and even give them their own show.

Would she have had a reality show if not imprisoned? I doubt it. Too bad Johnny Carson never went to jail for breaking the law. He may have been more popular... only in today's society. People used to care about integrity. Seems as though integrity is the last thing Primetime TV looks for these days. Perhaps Charlie Manson can broadcast from his prison cell? I am sure some people would eat it up.

Americans love underdogs and stories of redemption. C'est la vie.
