hearing this on the floor of the stock exchange (where I work)- anyone else heard anything on this? I want to STRESS, that this is MERELY a RUMOR being discussed, and the stock market has rallied hard in the last half hour as a partial response. Just checking to see if any Redszoners have heard anything, as usually someone on here has a scoop.

Stocks appeared to get a further boost as rumors circulated on trading room floors that the North Korean leader Kim Jong-il had been been overthrown.
"I've heard that rumor," said Peter Boockvar, equity strategist at Miller Tabak. "Maybe that news matters for a couple of hours, but I don't think it will have an impact on someone buying a car in the United States."

How many times has this rumor surfaced in the last few years? There was talk of this sometime last year if my memory doesn't fail me (sometimes it does!). There were rumors that his pictures we being taken down and it probably meant that he died.
However... I hope it is true!! Sure there is a possibility that someone like him may take over. But there seems to be no negotiating with Jong II. A pure and simple nutcase IMO. A replacement may be the same, but cannot be any worse.

I agree, except that it can always be worse. Imagine if Osama (or someone like him) took control of that nuclear arsenal. At least Jong hasn't pushed the button (yet).
