    Kingston Mall under siege

Kingston - Police and FBI agents surrounded the Hudson Valley Mall in Lake Katrine this afternoon after a man opened fire inside, sending shoppers and store employees scrambling for cover.
At least one person - a U. S. Army recruiter who may have been specifically targeted by the gunman - was shot in the leg and evacuated by helicopter to an Albany area hospital, police said.
Police arrested one man they said was the shooter.
Initial unconfirmed reports broadcast by national media of one, possibly two other shooters in the mall and of up to 10 people wounded in theattack appear to be unfounded.
Police are still conducting their investigation. More details will be made available at a press conference tonight, police said.
Police completely surrounded the mall, while at least two police helicopters buzzed overhead and ambulances raced to the scene. Police also set up checkpoints at the mall's exits, searching for potential witnesses.
The shooting sparked near-panic inside the mall, witnesses said. Wendy Bessman of Kingston was on her way to see a movie with her daughter.
"I heard a bang, and then all of a sudden it was like a movie," Bessman said.
"All these people were running at us screaming 'there's a shooter,' " she added. "I just grabbed my kid and ran."
The mall was evacuated immediately after the shooting, but an unknown number of store employees remained locked down inside for hours while officers scoured the mall searching for other potential victims and
    shooters.
