ONe thing I don't like about the game is the fact that Barry Larkin wants freakin' 9 mil a year...I signed him anyway.

Another thing is a signed Estabon Loisa as a FA and I tried to deal both him and Griffey to anyone...mainly for a middle rotation starter and a backup OFer (so I could use Dunn, Kearns, and Pena). No team would take either of them!

This might be a dumb question, so I'll apologize in advance, but do the updates on Xbox cost money?

penant I don't think you can actually have any updates on the xbox, although I don't own one so I stand corrected if that is the case. I know on PS2, like last year, the bugs are in the game for good.

As far as roster updates go, you either steal the updates from someone else who has 'em (What I did last year) buy a card off ebay or other places with the updates loaded on there, or just do them yourself.

    Choice is yours.

I think they are included...provided that you subscribe to XBOX Live.

Wow you guys are good. Thanks a lot, very quick responses fellas. Why does All Star Baseball think that they can sell their game for 49.99?? That is usually what I get, and I guess I'll have to switch to MVP this year. I usually like the backyard baseball feature in ASB though

There is no ASB this year. MLB 2006 is the "expensive" choice this year with a $39 price tag but it's PS2 only.

You can always turn "fair trades" off ong enough to get your roster the way you want it, then turn it back on.

    [B]So, I ask again, which is better....MVP 2005 or MLB 2k5 ?
I'm heading to the store tomorrow and undecided which game to buy.

Re: EA Sports releases MVP 2005 early

    I've got both for XBOX.

I prefer (after ONE full day of ownership of both)
    is...

MLB2k5. Just more fun to play.. in context, I'm 32 and prefer sim. The graphics on MVP are maybe a little bit better, but I like the FEEL of the ESPN offering.

Like I said, I have both. Just prefer the 2k5 game at this point.

Re: EA Sports releases MVP 2005 early

Well I'm gonna have to wait an extra day to try out MVP 2005

Bought it tonight at a local Gamestop, and wouldn't ya know it, popped it in the XBOX, and it's a defective game! It has sound, but when the game loads, the picture is staticky (sp?) then NOTHING but sound. Very disappointing, never had that happen with a new game I've bought before

I loved MVP last year (except for the minor errors they seemed to fix), but I've been debating with MLB 2K5 as well because of the ESPn license and the fact that NFL 2k5 is probably the best sports game ever made overall!!

You all should really give ESPN MLB 2K5 a shot. That game is LIGHT YEARS ahead of the ESPN product that was put out last year. Kush Games is a hell of a development team, to be sure!

Re: EA Sports releases MVP 2005 early

This sucks. I went today to pick up MLB 2k5 from Gamestop for PS2 and they told me it was pushed back until March 29, so I just decided to go ahead and by MVP. I have been trying to get the hang of it but it is such a hard game. The baserunning is so hard and now you guys are on here talking bout how sweet MLB is :thumbdown

Re: EA Sports releases MVP 2005 early

Well I bought MVP Baseball 2005 today. My best friend and gamer came over to start our season. We got the Reds totally ready to go. Picked our players and positions. Went to the next game option. And there we got a VERY dissapointing suprise. You can not play two players on the same team???? WHY??? This is horrible. That is the only reason we got it. I play no games other than computer (when i do that). So now this game is totally useless to me. I cant take it back because I bought it at circuit city and they arent going to take an open game back. So I guess I will try and dump it on ebay. WHY WHY WHY cant you play 2 people on the same team??? I dont get it...
IF anyone wants this game for 20 buck send me a message.... Its yours...

Re: EA Sports releases MVP 2005 early

MVP 2005 is the better game. It requires a good deal of fine tuning the settings to your abilty level. When you get better, use all-star or MVP settings, and tweak the "gameplay tuning" as you move up. The rookie setting in 2005 is a bit more challenging than it was last year, so give it time.
