I'm running Windows XP on a Dell Pentium 4 Computer.
On a couple of occassions today, I have re-booted my machine. When I got to the log-on screen and attempted to log-on, an error message pops up that says "Visual Basic Runtime Error." It proceeds to describe a problem with the logon.exe file. Then Windows kicks out to the all blue screen and says: "Logon Error" and gives a code of "c000021a" (Fatal System Error).
NOTE: This does not happen every time I boot the machine. I tried to recreate the error and it gave the same error about two times out of ten reboots. It does not seem to make a difference whether it's a hard boot or a soft boot.
A friend of mine suggested running Checkdisk, and I will do that when I get home. Anyone have any other ideas? I went to Microsoft's Knowledge Base, but didn't seem to find exactly the right information.
Thanks!
