Theres been some speculation on Herd-Nation that the reason he resigned was because of the WVU-Marshall football series that Joe Manchin is trying to get going.

I for one find it extremely odd and somewhat suspicious that he is retiring right before spring drills. Normally coaching changes happen in December, not March. From the press conference and press releases, it doesnt sound health related.

This isn't the only Pruett thread we've had today. Take another look at the other one.

Help stamp out, eliminate, and do away with redundancy.

Actually, many of us Herd Nation regulars were criticizing that speculation. It was brought up by several of our Mountie lurkers. It is absurd when you think about it; it's like saying Rich Rod would retire because WVU planned to restart a series with Penn state.

I grew up in Parkersburg and you know as well as I do how badly most people in the state want to see this game played--no matter what they might say to the contrary. As someone who is from a "House Divided" and used to cheer for both schools, I can't wait until we meet on the field again.

I grew up across the river from Huntington close to Ashland KY. I moved here about two years ago and tried to follow WVU because they were "the team". Two years later, I find myself pulling more and more for Marshall in football because of the dislike ive attained for WVU and the fans up here. Funnily enough, you never hear them talk during basketball season with me being a UK fan.

But as a Marshall fan, I think it is pure silly that there is no WVU-Marshall home and home series every year. I wish they could just find a location outside of Morgantown or Huntington to play, but there isnt a football stadium big enough to hold the crowd.
