    Gas Dryer hookup advice

I ponied up the money to buy the wife a top of the line Washer/Dryer set. You know the one that can Wash 16 pairs of jeans at one time.

The problem is that the gas line coming into the laundry room is capped. No shutoff valve.

I plan on shutting off the main valve into the house. Wait a couple hours to make sure there is no lingering gas. Than I plan on removing the cap and placing a shut off valve at the dryer location.

I'm thinking the shut off valve would be mandatory and not to mention useful.

    Am I right?

    Thanks

Your gas utility company should be able to advise you on the regulations at no cost. It is in their interest that you do the job correctly.
