Nice, I'll have to check into that a little deeper. I have a side business devloping web sites. I have used php extensively for a few of them, and in some fashion on most of them. I really like fiddling with php/mysql.

It's core is less functional (no calendar) and the thirparty add-ons just didn't do it for me. Plus it doesn't feel like an enterprise class CMS.

But to each their own i guess.

I have now officially hijacked this thread... would a mod break it off please? I'd like to discuss this more with a few of these guys and gals.

opensourcecms.com is a great place to test drive various CMSes.

    http://www.opensourcecms.com/

You can try all of these there:

    CivicSpace
    Clever Copy
    CPG Dragonfly
    Drupal
    e107
    eNvolution
    eXOOPS
    Exponent
    eZ Publish
    Geeklog
    Jetbox One
    LucidCMS
    Mambo
    MD-Pro

    PHP-Fusion
    PHP-Nuke
    phpwcms
    phpWebSite

    Props
    RUNCMS
    TikiWiki
    Typo3
    Website Baker
    Xaraya
    XOOPS
    YACS!

I've tried PHPnuke, Drupal and Xoops, but my preference is Mambo.

Re: CMS Solutions discussion split from the what are you reading thread?

we are currently writing a user manual for phpwebsite. one of the things it lacks is a good manual for the end user.

    It can be found here

easy to hack, but not much reason to, 3rd party mods are excellent, especially one called Article Manager. allows for content to expire on a predetermined date. I wish phpws had a way to work with phpBB2, cuz the forum it does have stinks. Supposedly the next version is similar to phpbb.

I've heard Typo3 has a ton of features, but is pretty rigid.

See, mambo has a "tiki" component that would make publishing that live to the site easier rather than having to download and view it offline.
