Oh, this is just too good to be true comedy-wise.

Former Boy Band Member To Run For Mayor

A former boy band member announced his plan to run for Cincinnati mayor Friday.

Justin Jeffre, a singer and dancer in the former pop group 98 Degrees, will launch his campaign April 2 at Purgatory nightclub in Over-The-Rhine.

The club announced the event and publicized Nick Lachey and friends as the hosts.

Lachey, also a Cincinnati native, was a 98 Degrees bandmate. He currently stars in the MTV reality series 'Newlyweds.'

I thought Nick Lachey was the one who wanted to be mayor?

More importantly, is Purgatory a new club? Or am I just that out of it?

No, it's just a hip way to say Cincinnati.

I wonder what being a campaign worker pays?

And more importantly, how many cute young girls will I be working with?

Since this guy is somewhat of a celebrity, maybe you will be working with these two.

If 13 year old girls could vote, he'd be a shoe-in. Thankfully, no one has started a 'childrens suffrage' movement just yet.

Heck... if Jerry Springer can become a mayor in a large city in this country, then I wouldn't put it past anyone (or any urban voters) to win a mayoral election.

    Jerry was mayor where?!!? :dflynn:

I wonder if he wins if he'll have 4 aides behind him at all times wearing headsets and coreographed press conferences.

Good point, Chip. I also wonder if Justin will have women wanting "his beads" at press conferences! Gotta be better lookers than Jerry's bead-wanters.

    JUSTIN FOR MAYOR!!!

I dont really think he'll come close to getting voted in.

Now if it was Nick Lachey running for Mayor I could see him having a better shot a getting it.

Lots more info here. Should have known reality TV was involved somehow.

In other news: Purgatory is at 12th and Walnut streets, the former site of Club Clau.
