    GRRRR...as you obviously know, Springer was mayor long before he was on TV, as an anchor or talk-show host. He actually has a compelling background, an immigrant who became a fine attorney and eventually mayor. Also seems like a nice guy in person.

    He also got busted for bouncing a check to a Newport hooker (for services rendered) BEFORE being elected as the Mayor.

    My understanding was that Springer was mayor due to a power-sharing agreement between Charter and the Democrats. Therefore, I believe he was never actually 'elected' mayor. Is that correct?
