I'm pleased by the signing. Snyder seems to be well qualified and he's a Marshall grad, which is important. Pruett would've left Marshall years ago for more money if MU hadn't been his alma mater, and I hope Snyder has similar loyalty.
When a mid-major scholl such as Marshall does find a good coach, he's usually soon gone to a bigger school unless Marshall is a "dream job" for him, as it was for Bobby Pruett. Look at MU basketball---Marshall had Billy Donovan as its coach for only a couple of seasons before he understandably left for Florida. For some reason Marshall wouldn't even interview a then available Mike D'Antoni, a Herd grad, for the basketball job when Greg White left, hiring instead Ron Jirsa. In 2004-05 the MU basketball team won, what, 6 games all season; meanwhile the current issue of Sports Illustrated calls D'Antoni the NBA coach of the year for the Suns.

I haven't gotten over Marshall's reluctance to hire Mike D'Antoni. He was the face of Marshall basketball when it was at its best, he has great contacts overseas with his playing and coaching there, and he has proven coaching experience. D'Antoni was the man to bring back Marshall basketball in my opinion.

I'm pleased with the hiring of Snyder. I think he'll be a good one.

Snyder will be a great one. This has always been his ultimate goal, so I think he'll stick arouund for a while.

Rats - I knew we'd lose him but I wanted one more year out of him with the guys we have coming back..... But, oh well, it was inevitable - best of luck Coach Snyder!

I hope your all's coach is better than Rodrigez. I hear WVU has to put up with another 4 years of a Rasheed Marshall clone...

Coming from a guy who can't stand Marshall football I think this is a great signing for the Herd, very impressive.

Word is that former Nitro star QB/Pirates catcher JR House has enrolled at WVU and is planning to walk on this year.

    Chris Weinke anyone?

Doesn't matter cause Rodrigez has a hard on for guys of the Rasheed Marshall type and House is anything but that. This Pat White he is going to start is "supposedly" the next Vick

This guy is about 5'11, a buck 65 and he will be starting over Adam Bednarik a big ol corn fed white boy that is built like a linebacker 6'4 225 with a cannon for an arm. One thing I will credit Marshall for, they produce great QBs while WVU hasn't had one since Bulger.
