I might go Pet Sounds to Wild Honey. That's a pretty forgiving list.
Beach Boys suffer from what I like to call W.H. Auden disease, write 10 great, beyond great poems and 500 lousy ones, yet still be great somehow.

I like that track. Even though it's a little emo.....errrr...modern. (my friends always laugh at me because I almost always lump anything more modern sounding into the emo category.)
Here are some of the new records I bought today.
Mando Diao (I think it's self titled)- great power pop group from Sweden. Check this link if you want. www.mando-diao.com
I also bought the new Soundtrack of Our Lives record. So far, it rocks. It's a bit poppier than their early stuff, but it's not really pop....It's PSYCHE POP. There's a difference. Also from Sweden. What's with Swedes writing better songs than Americans? That's a big problem in this country.
Once again, I mention Cobra Verde because I just bought their newest one today. It's all cover songs, but they are done in an amazing way. You must check out Petkovic's take on "Get the Party Started"...You know, the Pink song. Genius. As an aside, on personal level, you would love John. He's the most intelligent person on the planet, and his songs reflect that. It's music for smart people and I feel stupid for listening to it.
The rest of the stuff I bought was just old garage rock re-issues from early sixties Australian bands. Stuff nobody on this site would care about.
