Why does Casey bat 3rd and Dunn 5th? Is there any argument either that (a) you put the better hitter in the 5th spot or that (b) Casey is in any way a better hitter than Dunn? I just find this totally indefensible - even worse that Aurillia playing.
Not seeing Aurilia's name in there makes me feel all is right in the world.
Heck, even if Wilson was batting 4th i would feel this way. LOL
Kearns hitting 7th?
dave, dave, dave.
IMO for today.
Freel
Dunn
Griff
Kearns
Casey
Randa
Lopez (yes, even though he's on a tear.)
LaRue
Wilson
But it'll do. But he does have the right players are on the field. At least until WMP returns.

Looks better than most of the lineups I've seen thrown out there this year. Here's to the start of a new streak.
I don't know if I really like Dunn batting ahead of Randa, unless Randa starts going on some kind of a tear. I would like to see him have more protection than that. At least we have a decent middle infield starting. We can only hope Rich's hammy takes its time.
Hot there today eh?
I'm going to listen to the SD feed since there is no TV. My goal is to go until July (when I come to Ohio) without listening to Marty and crew.
It should be an easy choice today.
If Randa bats behind Dunn all year he'll have a Deron Johnson year.Originally Posted by OldRightHander

I like the lineup - as I've posted many times the last week I prefer:
Freel
Lopez
Dunn
Griffey
Kearns
Casey
Randa
LaRue
However, this isn't bad either, especially since Casey is beginning to hit doubles, that signals he is about to go on a tear.

With Kearns, Lopez, and Freel all in the lineup at the same time, I have to wonder if Miley came down with a nasty flu bug and called in sick today.

Now now, let's not be too harsh. Aurilia playing is far worse than having the right players in the wrong order.Originally Posted by top6

You could argue the same about the Padres...they bat their OBP guy (Giles) in the 5 slot. (not that Nevin and Klesko are shabby).
IIRC he was mostly 3rd with the Pirates.

They dropped Giles down to 5th because he was in a horrible slump (0-22 at one point). When they dropped him to 5th, he started hitting (vs StL). Klesko has been hot recently to boot, so that's why they stayed there, they are both hitting in the spots they are in. I'd imagine once Klesko cools off, Giles will go back to hitting 3rd where he has primarily hit with the Padres as well.Originally Posted by oneupper
