Washington (24-21) at Cincinnati (16-28), 7:10 pm EDT

CINCINNATI (Ticker) -- Livan Hernandez seeks his seventh consecutive victory when the Washington Nationals play the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday.

Hernandez (6-2, 3.69 ERA) is the first pitcher in franchise history to win six straight starts since Javier Vazquez in 2001 for the-then Montreal Expos. The club record is eight straight winning starts, set by Pedro Martinez in 1997 and Charlie Lea in 1983.

Hernandez allowed a run and seven hits in six innings in a 3-2 triumph against the Milwaukee Brewers last Wednesday. The 30-year-old righthander hasn't beaten the Reds since 2000 and is 2-4 with a 4.99 ERA in eight career games against them.

The Reds posted a 5-3 victory in the series opener on Monday. Eric Milton pitched eight innings and allowed one earned run.

The 29-year-old Milton was the first Cincinnati lefthander to go that deep into a game since Lance Davis pitched a complete game against Detroit on September 16, 2001.

Jason LaRue, who entered the game batting .196, had three hits, including his second homer, and drove in two runs for the Reds.

Brandon Claussen (1-3, 4.71) will make his first start since leaving his May 10 start against San Diego in the fourth inning with a left ankle sprain.

The lefthander, making his first career appearance against the Nationals, is 0-2 with a 7.71 ERA in three home starts this season.

I'm just trying to go two for two in starting game threads tonight. This shake-up on the Reds has me concerned if I don't produce I might get DFA'd.

Claussen having trouble throwing his breaking pitch for strikes.

Got ahead 0-2 on Carroll before he singled on a 3-2 count. 1-2 on Johnson and he walks him. Claussen just can't put the hitters away after getting ahead in the count.
