    There should be a rule that if the hitter before you makes an out on the first pitch...the next hitter has to take the first pitch. Valentin just broke that rule.

    because talented younger players are being set aside for him? Because as bad as he's been Kearns is OPS'ing .700 compared to Rich's .689 before today?

    If it was about winning at this stage, I'd be more concerned about the pitching. Its about preparing for when Milton's gone now. Rich Aurilia is not going to make a difference with this team, nor with future Reds teams.
