Unless it's the Casa Nuevo in Athens. My maxim is that any Mexican restaurant had better have real Mexicans in it.

Yes, it is true, disenfranchised white surbanites can melt cheese adequately, given that they stole the recipes in mexico and mixed them with the Moosewood cookbook.Originally Posted by westofyou

I think the show aired in England in 82; aired in the States late night on MTV Sunday night schedule, after "120 Minutes" @ 86, IIRC.Originally Posted by NoCalRed

One of the places where I once waited tables, the one with the same name as the Reds' 47th round draft pick, used to have a lot of Mexican dishes on the menu. Now this was the 80s and they were also selling Michelob as a "premium" beer, so the entire concept of authentic had yet to be discovered. People would sometimes ask me about the Mexican dishes, which consisted of gobs of melted Monterrey Jack cheese and something under it, and I'd tell them that we specialized in Mexican-Irish fusion cooking. You'd be amazed at how many people accept that as a reasonable statement and order the Mexican dishes saying, "Well then, I've got to try those enchiladas."

People love that melted cheese.Originally Posted by M2

They also called "quesadillas" "durangos" and "quesadillas" were deep fried "triangles". Basically big old deep fried empanadas with whatever you want in them.
It was a CO-OP and the source of the "when you call me an... it makes me feel like ....." nonsense that I was spouting the other day.
