Coheed and Cambria-In Keeping the Secrets of Silent Earth pt. 3 (2003)
great progressive punk rock. on the Good Appolo album, you can hear more of the Rush, Dream Theater, and Iron Maiden influence on Claudio.
Children of Bodom-Follow the Reaper (2000)
progressive metal with a heavy thrash influence. i think Alexi Laiho might be better than Steve Vai AND Jon Petrucci
Johnny Cash-Greatest Hits (1978)
Understand Your Man.
Willie Nelson-Red Headed Stranger (1961)
Willie's first album, and probably my favorite.
Guns N' Roses-Use Your Illusion II (1992)
one of the best albums ever.

yes, this really is how we make our living.
Not his first RL, it came out in 1975.Willie Nelson-Red Headed Stranger (1961)
Willie's first album, and probably my favorite.
It is great though.
Pedro- Craig Finn let me down bigtime with Seperation Sunday, I will say that. I can't handle the lyrics, not that they were incredibly odd for Finn. Just obnoxious to me this time.
I've been listening to Ted Leo and Ween lately.
This is the time. The real Reds organization is back.
the record packing on my dad's old copy of it says 1961. the linear notes on my cd case say 2001, originally 1974.Originally Posted by westofyou

That is essentially Willies 2nd "Concept" album. Phases and Changes was the 1st, and came out the year before.Originally Posted by Ravenlord
Willie and Waylon went in the the record company and IIRC Waylon was trying to get his guy to produce and release Willies new album, which was way sparse in the era of the Billy Sherrell Nashville sound.
Waylons guy says, "if we could put some strings on it and background vocals...."
Waylons reply was essentially "You dumb SOB, I'll take this record somewhere else and my business as well."
The star always wins.

Saw The Hold Steady last night. they were great. I like Seperation Sunday, but it was the first thing I had ever heard from him.Originally Posted by Cedric

A couple of you have mentioned Nada Surf. Let Go was my favorite album of 2003, and while the new record isn't quite up to those heights, it's good enough to get me to their show in Portland this week. Magnet magazine has a really great and in-depth story on the band in their latest issue.

I just had the humorous experience of selecting this forum and seeing this thread listed right under the one about musical breast implants. Interesting connection there.

The Weight is a Gift doesn't really have anything to prove, it's just fun, confident pop songs. Let Go was more Nada Surf's one final claim at being relevant and they aced it. The production on The Weight is a Gift is also more geared towards radio and short, compact pop tunes than Let Go's more expansive and ambient sound.Originally Posted by Doc. Scott
If you listen to the bonus disc that came with some copies of the new album, you'll have a different perspective on the album and the band itself. The original accoustic version of Concrete Bed sounds similar to the Blizzard of '77 and other Let Go stuff.
Oh and I'm also going to see them this Saturday in Los Angeles. Looking forward to it.
