    Maroon 5?

I swear to gawd I've never heard of them. I thought using the numeral five in a band name was outlawed after the death of Robin Tyner.

    You lucky, lucky man.

Picture a world in which Matchbox 20 thought they were Jamiroquai .
Then again, you might not want to do that.

I saw Black Francis last night.

    New songs sounded very good.

Plus anytime you get to here "Break my Body" it's good.

    EEEEeeeek!

I'm glad the Hives are playing first so I can leave.

    I hope I can leave.

Perfect explanation. That band is plenty egregious. Absolutely crazy bill pairing them with The Hives. I suspect just about no one likes them both.

........Or it could be an epiphanous evening for some 12 year old.

Many a time as a young pup did I change directions in my musical tastes due to a primo opening act.

The Hives are just cute enough to pull it off. I've seen it happen. They can suck em in with those matching suits and ascots and spats, and then blow the doors off with their Stooges on speed brand of mashed up post pop punk.

They're a goofier, poppier, prettier New Bomb Turks.

Good points. A lot of folks are going to find their Maroon 5 concert has been hijacked by a rock 'n' roll show. I know this, I would not want to be in the band that comes on stage after The Hives.

I saw the Pixies open for 10,000 Maniacs. It was like Frank Sinatra opening for Eddie Money.

I saw Camper Van open for them at the Greek Theater in Berkeley

    It was brutal.

I also saw Bob Segar steal the show from Ozzie and Black Sabbath in 1977... but that's a what can drugs do for you, story.

I did too. Still, that doesn't feel like the falling off that the 10,000 Maniacs represented.

Camper was one of the tightest live bands I've ever seen--and the list is long.

I'll defend Maroon 5. Their new album is actually pretty good (not great, but good), and the one before it wasn't bad either. I don't like Maroon 5, but I appreciate what they do.
