VH1 put out this list of 100 Greatest Kid Stars of ALL TIME.

I'm sorry, but I almost blew my stack when I saw this...

    Gary Coleman? Please...

Where is SHIRLEY TEMPLE? Has there EVER been a GREATER KID STAR
    (this is ALL-TIME, supposedly_.

What about NATALIE WOOD (RedBaron would agree)
Mickey Rooney? Judy Garland? Hayley Mills? Elizabeth Taylor, Jackie Cooper and so many more....

This would be MY top TEN (anyone else want to chip in )

    1. Shirley Temple
    2. Natalie Wood
    3. Mickey Rooney
    4. Elizabeth Taylor
    5. Jodi Foster
    6. Drew Barrymore
    7. Jackie Cooper
    8. Olsen Twins
    9. Ron Howard
    10. Judy Garland (well, she did start a bit late)

honorable mention to Natalie Portman (also started late)...

    I probably left some out...but VH1...gawd!!!!!!

Re: VH1 100 Greatest Kid Stars

VH1 (stands for Video Hits One, in case you've forgotten) has become teh suck much like MTV (Music Television).

They are making pseudo-celebrities out of people who couldn't get a job in Hollywood with shows like Celebrity Fit Club (Celebrity Fat Camp), The Surreal Life (C-List Stars hanging out) and Hogan Knows Best (Hulk Hogan raises his family on TV).

About the only good thing left on there is Storytellers, and that's hit or miss.

Re: VH1 100 Greatest Kid Stars

I am once again reminded that there is a huge segment of moviegoers who have never seen over half of the movies made, because they don't watch classic films (and don't get me started on foreign films). This list reflects that bias. With the availability of TCM and the volume of dvds available from Netflix and the like, movie lovers can see so many wonderful films that VH-1 seems to have ignored, and a large portion of their viewers probably don't know exist. How was the list chosen? Did viewers vote?

A list that contains the Olsen Twins and not Elizabeth Taylor has no credibility at all. Shirley Temple was terrifically prolific (and the picture in the dictionary for child-star), if a bit annoying. Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney were wonderful, as well as Jackie Coogan, Jackie Cooper (The Champ), Margaret O'Brien (Meet Me In St. Louis)...also Virginia Wiedler (The Philadelphia Story, etc.) and Dickie Moore come to mind right off hand. Natalie Wood is terrific in Miracle in 34th Street. More recent child actors I admire were Ron Howard, Jodie Foster, Tatum O'Neal, Lukas Haas. Today's Haley Joel Osment and Dakota Fanning are truly gifted.

I watched last night with my kids and no mention of a vote was heard. Also nothing about how the list was compiled. My guess is it was a committe of twenty-somethings...Most surely it was not a vote.

The list included not only Film and TV stars, but recording stars also... (e.g. the Jackson 5). That makes for a whole new set of omissions.

But really...A list of the 100 Greatest Kid Stars without Shirley Temple is like a list of the top 100 Baseball Players without Babe Ruth.

I agree. The VH1 is amazingly bad. WOY's list was much better.

    13. Jonathan Lipnicki (JERRY MAGUIRE)
One movie, and he lands at #13?

The twentysomething producers of the show who came up with this list have no perspective.

Macaulay Culkin no. 2 and Gary Coleman no. 1 about says it all. This is the dumbest ranking of anything I've seen since Dan O'Brien went shopping for starting pitchers in the last offseason.

What about Jerry Mathers or Jay North? Annette Funicello? Kurt Russell? River Phoenix? Dean Stockwell? Those above mentioned by oneupper should all be on there too.
