Who is your favorite boxer and why?

Mine is no doubt Arturo Gatti b/c everyone of his fights are amazing to watch. He is little but he has alot of HEART and these days you can't find a boxer like Gatti.Every fight he fights his butt off and he is determand to give 110% and put his life on the line.

He has a very tough fight againist Mayweather friday and I honestly have my doubts about him winning the fight but win or lose Gatti will forever be my favorite boxer.

Jermaine Taylor, w/o question. He's humble, well spoken, and has the best jab in boxing. Been watching him for a couple of years and can NOT wait for the Hopkins fight. While I'm not saying Taylor will beat him, but it should be a helluva lot of fun to watch

I saw Naseem fight once and I wanted to hit him w/ a 2x4.

    So incredibly obnoxious

Smokin Joe Frazier. I still remember staying up late to listen to that first fight with Ali on the radio. I never seen anyone take blows to the head like he did, and shake them off. When he fought, he came at you.

Wow, GAC, thanks for broadening the scope.

In that case I like Joe Louis or Sugar Ray Leonard.

Sugar Ray Leonard, Aaron Pryor and Tommy Hearns were fun to watch as was Hagler... but Ali is the one that was bigger than life.

Agree with Ali bigger than life. Also Pryor and Hearns. The self-aggrandizing Leonard did gave me a pain in the neck.

Have to add Smokin' Joe Frazier. The Ali/Frazier fights were classic. I was so caught up in Ali, I didn't appreciate Joe till he gone from the sport.

A pre-Buster Douglas Mike Tyson was truly frightening.

Been watching 40's-50's era fights on ESPN Classic. I have to say, fighters were better back then.

I loved him, I was his demographic.. to young to care about "marketing" completely caught up in the Olympics and all that stuff... 76 Olympics boxing was the best ever IMO.

The Duran - Leonard fights were classics.

When We Were Kings is awesome and a great watch. Ali was most definitely larger than life.

Before the dumb arse messed around and got AIDS, I liked watching Tommy Morrison fight. I haven't been watching as much boxing lately, but I watched the Contender and it kind of got my boxing juices flowing again.

I am a pretty avid follower of boxing; Ali is definitely my favorite of all-time.

As far as currents... well, my favorite heavyweight is.... Kevin McBride. Am I on the bandwagon? Nah, I've always liked him... Irish Pride, baby. Needless to say, the heavyweights have been a disappointment for the better part of 15-20 years.

Otherwise there is some good boxing going on now in some of the lighter-than-heavyweight divisions. I do like Bernard Hopkins, because he's crazy. I remember he threatened to kill Roy Jones Jr.'s chickens if he didn't accept his challenge. I also like Winky Wright.
