    Decorating

I need some help. We are moving to a new house at the end of next month. My son wants his room redone in a "skateboard" theme. I told him I'd do that for him since I was planning on re-painting the room anyway (it currently decorated in Blues Clues, and he's too old for that). I have purchased 3 cheap skateboards from Target and plan on sawing them in half and attaching them to the wall with L-brackets to be used as shelving.

Beyond that, I don't know what else I can do. Has anyone done anything similar to this for their kids? Does anyone have any other skateboard theme things they can suggest?

Paint some skateboard ramps on the wall, that can't be too hard.

We did skate board posters with my son (framed them to make them look nicer). Easy to take back down when he moves on to his next thing. Or when he moves out.

If you were Ty Pennington, you could build a skateboard or ramp bed.

    Just saying.

Funny you say that, I am Ty Pennington, well sorta. I was going to make him a skateboard bed, and probably will down the road, I already have the plans drawn out. We just bought him a brand new bed about a year and a half ago and my wife won't let me build one (yet). She wants to wait until the fall when my younger son is ready for a kids bed. So, I'll be doing that in the fall.

I think I'm going to go with a Tony Hawk poster since my son loves Tony Hawk. I might also use some "trucks" for skateboards to hold his hats. I'm trying to come up with something original to use wheels for. I might just nail the wheels to the wall as a display type thing, but I was trying to avoid too much nailing things to the wall. A-ha. I could use the wheels as closet door pulls, or dresser pulls. Yea, that's what I'll do.

Thanks everyone for your ideas, links, etc.

Maybe you can put a concrete tube around his bed. But it might be hard to make; but when does a young kid make his bed up anyways.

Here's what the "trucks" look like.

I figure if I nail about 5 of those to the wall, it would hold 10 hats. Could even use one on the back of the door to hold a towel, etc.

That was in the plans. I have already purchased "cheap" skateboards from Target for that.

I hope my wife doesn't throw together some Xanadu inspired paint colors and screw this all up.

Alright. This project seems like its pretty much a done deal.

Now, my youngest son. He's almost 2. He wants his bedroom to have a Hooters theme. Anyone have any ideas?
