Re: Worst Song of the 80's....

When I saw the title of this thread, I had to quit lurking and give my two cents. I'm an avid collector of 80's music and some of your posts are killing me. While a lot of the music of the 80's was cheesy, it's still so much better than most anything out today. You can have a big laugh Team Casey, but the 80's are pretty much all I listen to.
That being said, one of the songs that stands out as being one of the worst of the decade was "The Girl Is Mine" by Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson. Those two fighting over a girl? I remember one of Paul's spoken lines: "C'mon Michael, we're not gonna fight now."

That song has some good memories associated with it for me though
I can not evaluate it objectively.

I think I have to agree with "We built this city" as the worst. It didn't help that the radio had to play it every 15 minutes for what seemed like 5 years.

I'm with ya, Eric. I love 80's music. It's what I grew up with, and what defined "fun" to me as a youth. Although I do listen to many, many other types of music, 80's music always puts a smile on my face, and always has a place on any record player, or CD player nearby.

80's music is my favorite like many others here. The worst from that decade had to be "Mickie". I would turn stations every time that song came on. Awful, truly awful!

I love '80s music, too. My band plays mostly 80's cover songs.

Not a big Billy Ocean fan in general, but I disliked Carribean Queen more than Get outta my dreams, and "Suddenly" even less than Carribean Queen.

Don't forget the awful "When the Going Gets Tough (the Tough Get Going)" from the movie "The Jewel of the Nile."

I didn't include that one because I had a crush on Kathleen Turner when I was a kid, and she was in the video, so I was much more tolerant to it.

Duran Duran has to be the king of the Lyric Toxic Dump Site.

    As evidence, I submit:

See them walking hand in hand across the bridge at midnight
Heads turning as the lights flashing out it's so bright
Then walk right out to the fourline track
There's a camera rolling on her back, on her back
And I sense the rhythm humming in a frenzy all the way down her spine
Girls on film, girls on film, girls on film, girls on film

Lipstick cherry all over the lens as she's falling
In miles of sharp blue water coming in where she lies
The diving man's coming up for air cause the crowd all love pulling dolly by the hair, by the hair
And she wonders how she ever got here as she goes under again

Girls on film (two minutes later), girls on film
Girls on film (got your picture), girls on film

Wider baby smiling you just made a million
Fuses pumping live heat twisting out on a wire
Take one last glimpse into the night I'm touching close I'm holding bright, holding tight
Give me shudders in a whisper take me up till I'm shooting a star

Girls on film (she's more than a lady), girls on film
Girls on film (two minutes later), girls on film
Girls on film (see you together), girls on film
Girls on film (see you later), girls on film
Girls on film (what ya doing), girls on film
