Maybe a bit. Be is no Ressurection, but I thought it was a definite step up from Electric Circus. And I thought it was better than some of the other albums that were listed in the top 50 (New Order, Kaiser Chiefs, and Weezer to name a few).

Agreed. Their last one was great. This one sounded like a compilation of Electronic rejects.

The first four songs ("Who's Joe?", "Hey Now What You Doin", "Sirens Call" and "Krafty") are ace...but the album gets bogged down after that (Dracula's Castle, Morning Night and Day, Jetstream could all have been left off), and finishes on a high (Turn and Working Overtime).

Overall I'd give the album a 3.5 stars...which is right around where I put Get Ready. Supposedly they have another album ready to come out, which is lightning speed for them. Adding Phil Cunningham on guitar has apparently helped their writing process immensely.

I actually have the Kaiser Chiefs - Employment - which I like well enough.

I didn't care for the White Stripes' new one at all - they got old quick - one trick pony.

Just got Sleater Kinney's The Woods. It's pretty good. Strange at first but it gets better with repeat listens.

I was very happy with the Mountain Goats, Decemberists and The Life Aquatic OST (see the movie if you haven't yet, Wes Anderson delivered another gem to my collection.)

    3. The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou soundtrack
    6. Guero; Beck
    32. Aha Shake Heartbreak; Kings of Leon
    33. The Sunset Tree; The Mountain Goats
    34. Elevator; Hot Hot Heat
    50. Make Believe (Dig); Weezer

The System of a Down album is the only one on the list I've heard. I'm kind of surprised the Audioslave album didn't make it. Their first one got rediculous ammounts of praise and Our of Exile is much better.

I just got the Okkervil River album. It's very good.

Another great album that somehow wasn't on that list was The National's Alligator. You can stream the entire album at http://www.beggars.com/features/thenational

I hear "Bang, Bang Rock 'n' Roll" by Art Brut is the bee's knees. "Alligator" by The National is a bit moody, but I think it's excellent.

Though it hasn't been released in the U.S., the Electric Six's "Senor Smoke" has some good buzz (though I figure it's mostly aping what the band did on "Fire", not that I'd mind).

Dressy Bessy's "Electrified" looks like a lightning rod. Some folks hate it, other think it's about time a guitar band had a little fun.

And while it may be a year old, "Hot Fuss" by The Killers seems to be gaining steam in 2005.
