3.Hit the Lights
4.Sad But True
5.Unforgiven I and II
Hell yeah, my kind of thread. These boys were my favorite band as a teenager.
In no real order, though ask me again tomorrow and there might be changes.
Creeping Death
Master of Puppets
No Leaf Clover
Seek and Destroy
and my favorite....Fade to Black
And for the record, Jason Newsted needs to come back. I met him at Ozzfest a couple years ago and he's way better than that monkey Rob Trujillo

I'm not a metalhead by any stretch of the imagination - in fact if I heard Metallica now, I'm afraid I'd not enjoy it.
I had college roomate who was a metal-head - so I got used to Metallica.
I would say that my favorites in order...
1 - Enter Sandman - (The intro music on this is really cool)
2 - One
3 - Nothing Else Matters
4 - Fade to Black
5 - Welcome Home
That's mine
Some people play baseball. Baseball plays Jay Bruce.
heh...all but one is written by Dave Mustaine.
1. Am I Evil? (Diamondhead cover)
2. The Four Horsemen
3. Whiplash
4. Metal militia
5. For Whom the Bell Tolls
but truthfully, even the ones i like i can hardly stand to listen to anymore. listening to WTUE the last 3 nights at work, i've heard Metallica 22 times. that's just slightly less than 1 Crapallica song every hour...and i had the 'joy' of getting "Enter Sandman" thrice. why doesn't anybody ever play "Don't Tread on Me" or "My Friend of Misery" from the black album?

I can't limit myself to five. Had St. Anger never happened, they'd still be my favorite band. In no order...
No Leaf Clover
The Outlaw Torn
Fixxxer
Nothing Else Matters
Low Man's Lyric
Astronomy (Their cover is so much better than BOC's original)
Bleeding Me
Until it Sleeps
Mama Said
Unforgiven I and II
Where the Wild Things Are
Prince Charming
One (although I really don't like the original recording. The one on S&M is my favorite)
Call of Ktulu
The Unnamed Feeling (the only good thing about St. Anger)
Master of Puppets (again, from S&M. I really didn't like them back in the pure speed metal "we can't sing" days)
The House Jack Built
1. Orion
2. Four Horsemen
3. Shortest Straw
4. Fade To Black
... and the best cover tune:
5. Blitzkrieg or Breadfan
Friggin' awesome thread, I guess I caught wind of it a couple days late. It is so hard for me to pick, Metallica's always been my favorite band, long hair or short hair; Mustaine or Hammett; through the early years and the most recent (although even I will admit I am not too keen on St. Anger, but it has some good stuff too. In fact the song I will list as my favorite from that record is actually one of my favorite 'Tallica songs, period). Load and Reload got a bad rap from a lot of folks, but I thought both of those were solid as well. I kind of go in cycles, I'm sure some others may as well, where I can have five favorite songs and it might be a completely different five a month or two later. I am gonna take the cheap way out as well, and select my favorite track (I'll cheat more, my second favorites in parentheses ) from each studio record.
Kill 'Em All: Seek And Destroy (Motorbreath)
Ride The Lightning: Creeping Death (The Call Of Ktulu)
Master Of Puppets: Welcome Home Sanitarium (The Thing That Should Not Be)
...And Justice For All: One (Frayed Ends Of Sanity)
"Black Album": Through The Never (Unforgiven)
Load: The Outlaw Torn (Bleeding Me)
Reload: Fixxxer (Where The Wild Things Are)
Garage Inc.: Turn The Page (Die, Die My Darling)
St. Anger: The Unnamed Feeling (Frantic)
