Too little too late. The MP's are the backbone of the force in Iraq. They have been tapped out. What's left in the States is the ones who were too lame or deemed unfit to deploy to Iraq. Yeah, you can arm up an Aircraft mechicanic to play cop, but that's a last resort. Just like you wouldn't want a cop to play aircraft mechanic. It's not exactly the same, but when you put people out with guns, you want them to know what to do.

The additional call up for guard and reservist around the country wasn't done until Tuesday Afternoon, a full 3 days after they kniew this storm was headed to the Gulf Coast as a Category 5 or high Cat 4 and they were warned on what would happen if New Orleans was hit.

For those who want to listen to a news source, WJBO radio in Baton Rouge is a news station that is being simulcast on all of the Clear Channel radio stations in New Orleans. It is the next best thing to a New Orleans radio station, since none of them have a live feed.

Don't the governors have to request guard activation? I'm only bringing this up because of the inference of pinning this one on the current administration.

Governors can request additonal forces from other states. The Governors of the states did recall what they had, but it wasn't enought. The Federal government can still highly suggest that additonal forces are needed. Apparently both State and Federal governments dropped the ball.
