    Reds 2006 Schedule

I've seen some parts of the 2006 schedule. I heard they're opening up with the Cubbies and will be playing in Detroit and Chicago (AL) for interleague. Has anyone seen the entire schedule for 2006?

I don't think the complete schedule is released until the end of the season, but I remember hearing the only AL cities they're visiting are Cleveland and Detroit, with Chicago, Kansas City, and Cleveland coming into Cincinnati for interleague. You're correct about opening at home with the Cubs.

Full schedule's usually not released until mid-October. I think it was even later last year.

Cubs and Pirates have been the traditional opening opponents for most of the franchises history. Back in the day it was one day at home, a travel day and then Opening Day at their park.

In recent times the REDS Opening Day opponents (last 20 years)...

    2004 Cubs
    2003 Pirates
    2002 Cubs
    2001 Braves
    2000 Brewers
    1999 Giants
    1998 Padres
    1997 Rockies
    1996 Expos
    1995 Cubs
    1994 Cardinals
    1993 Expos
    1992 Padres
    1991 Astros
1990 @ Astros (strike to start year, season delayed 2 weeks)
    1989 Dodgers
    1988 Cardinals
    1987 Expos
    1986 Phillies
    1985 Expos

    >> Expos 4X, Cubs 3X, Pads/Cards/Astros 2X EA.

Perhaps the REDS should start each year on the road? We all know what happened during the season when they last did this...

reds have almost always started their opening day games at home, and there shouldn't be any change to it, atleast i think.

i think they should go back to the reds play the first game of the season at home. just because of the history behind the team.

Some major AL draws there, I tell ya! Maybe we'll get lucky and see the White Sox manage to squeak into the postseason, then do well enough that they're able to generate some attendance revenue for us in our series next season.

Nah. Unlike Cubs fans, Sox fans actually have jobs so they can't pick up and follow their team on the road.

Cool - barring injuries (or a permanent move of Wood to the bullpen) it looks like the Reds will open the season facing Prior, Wood and Zambrano.

    Oh joy.
