I liked Live and Let Die, but the other two are probably among the weaker 007 films.Originally Posted by KronoRed

What the hey-I'll bump this one too.

Casino Royale opens tomorrow and is getting largely fantastic reviews. Hooray!!! I'm actually looking forward to seeing this (I never got around to the other ones, so this will officially be my first Bond movie).
Here's the NYTimes review:

There is no such thing as a pitching prospect.
I saw "Casino Royale" yesterday. Daniel Craig was great. He certainly does not "look" like the tall, dark James Bonds who went before him, but he perhaps comes closer to the Bond depicted in Ian Fleming's books than anyone else. He was quite believable in the role of a "blunt instrument" who, while he may not enjoy killing in the line of duty, is good at his job.
The entire cast, especially Eva Green as Vesper and of course Judi Dench as "M", was very good in the film. There is no campiness in "Casino Royale", which is probably the most serious and realistic Bond film since "From Russia With Love."
The film really isn't all that much of a "re-boot" of the 007 films. Yes, we see Bond first gain his "00" status and we see him first acquire a 1964 Austin-Martin, but the movie could have been made as simply a continuance of the series without many changes. However, while I really liked Pierce Brosnan as Bond, I do question whether or not he could have been as effective as Craig in "Casino Royale" as the character was written.
The movie is very violent and not at all light-hearted.
I liked it.

Saw it last night. Loved it. Rejuvenates the .007 experience. Daniel Craig was a breath of fresh air. The guy in the opening scene makes Spider Man look like a mere mortal.
Casino Royale was friggin great. Best Bond movie since Goldfinger. Seriously.
Daniel Craig is a man among men. If I was a chick, I'd be on that like ugly on a mongoose.
Or something.
I saw it last weekend, and I agree with everything that has been said.
I like that the movie wasn't afraid to breathe a little bit. The last bunch of Bond movies have really been more like generic action films with bits of James Bond inserted into them for good measure and to move the plot along from action scene to action scene. This just felt like a real 007 movie from back in the Connery era.
I really hope they keep going this direction, because they have the potential to make some really good movies with Craig.
Oh yeah -- and finally a new Bond song that doesn't suck!

I just got back from the theater a few minutes ago. I was pretty impressed with it, one of the best efforts in recent years. The action sequences supported the story instead of it being the other way around.
I saw this yesterday with my Dad. He commented that it's one of the best Bond's he's seen - if not the best. I thought it was great. I loved seeing 007 from the beginning...without the multitude of gadgets, more hand-to-hand combat. It seemed much more realistic. The character was also deeper. A big thumbs up to Daniel Craig.
Is John Cleese still playing Q?

Finally got a chance to see Casino Royale tonight. Boy, do I owe Daniel Craig an apology. He was excellent, a fantastic performance.
And I love the new direction they're taking the character and the franchise. What a great flick.
I was as wrong as wrong can be.

Yeah, I really loved it too RFS62...it was awesome!
