    Re: BCS Poll

Okay, even if Notre Dame isn't as good as some thing and their schedule is weak. It defies logic that a computer could rank USC #1 and Notre Dame #25 after last week's game. None.

The BCS shouldn't give credence to these bogus polls.

OBM, the problem is good defense beats good offense more often than not. A great Defense with a marginal offense can win titles, provided the offense doesn't screw it up. That is why I feel that USC will not when the title this year. Their defense is so young.

Pittsburgh, Purdue, and Washington are absolutely killing Notre Dame on the computer polls.
Hugs, smiling, and interactive Twitter accounts, don't mean winning baseball. Until this community understands that we are cursed to relive the madness.

I do not fault Notre Dame's schedule. Year in and year out it is fantastic. The problem is this year. Those teams are not good. Michigan State has absolutely no defense. My family has some serious Notre Dame fans in it. They don't get it either. Because their opponents are down, Notre Dame is enjoying a "good" season. Put the 2005 Irish against the 2003 Irish Schedule, and see how they would look then. I don't believe they would be .500. Charlie Wiess has a good recruiting class coming in, and they will improve, but I think some Domers have the Irish colored glasses on, in regards to this years team.
Yeah, I agree with the no defense thing - I just don't think they are as weak as most like to paint them. UCLA could put points on anyone and could beat any team in the nation. Now, whether they will or not is another question, but they could. They would scare any team, including Texas, VT or Miami.

As for ND - I don't have rose colored glasses on, and I understand the argument (I thought USC would destroy ND), but ND blew out the teams they were supposed to blow out, won a game nobody thought they would (Michigan, who was 3 when they played) and took the Number 1 team in the land to the last second. And no matter how weak people try to make the schedule out please remember four of the games were on the road. Road games against Big Ten teams are NEVER easy, whether those teams are down or not. And, again, I am not claiming ND should be top 5, I am saying to have them no higher than 22nd in any computer poll is a joke.

    Re: BCS Poll

Logan, I've been keeping a close eye on USC this year, and the main problem with their defense has been injuries. Two of their starting linebackers have been hurt all year and will most likely miss the season, two defensive lineman missed a combined four games earlier in the season, and the secondary is pretty banged up. Yes they are young but injuries have been a big factor.

As for Notre Dame, I don't like them but I feel they should be much higher than they are in the BCS. They have beat teams that were expected to make some noise this year. It's not really their fault that Pitt hired Dave Pornstache or Michigan's offense forgot to show up this year.

ND is a pretty good team. Charlie Weis has Brady Quinn playing to his potential. Maurice Stovall and Jeff Samardzija are having big years from the receiving standpoint. I think ND is for real and wouldn't be surprised to see them competing for a championship in the next couple years.

They have a top 5 recruiting class on the way, and enough maybes that Lemming (who has them 3 right now behind Texas and Georgia) states they could end up number 1.

Not to mention that 30 million watched the ND-USC game and NBC gave ND that free recruiting tour of the new complex. Think of all the HS kids who saw that (not to mention getting to play for Weis, he of NE Patroits Super Bowls fame - in short, HS kids are gonna wanna jump on that bandwagon)

The future is bright for ND - they aren't there yet, but, again, they are better than 25th in these stupid computer polls and better than 16th in the BCS poll.
