    Bengals Songs from Bootsy Collins

Just a little something to get you pumped up for the Steelers. I just found these through another forum and thought WilyMoRocks and some of the other Bengals fans here might enjoy.

    Bootsy is great.

I'm looking for information about a disco/funk Bengals song from the '81 team. I heard it on TV after the Bengals beat the 49ers on the "NFL Challenge" on "Wide World of Sports." Anyone know what I'm talking about?

    Johnny,

I'm not sure it's the song you're thinking of, but a small group of Bengals that included Issac ("Don't Kick the Baby") Curtis had a song that got lots of play on local radio during the Super Bowl Run.

The verse basically consisted of them spelling the word B-E-N-G-A-L-S. The chorus was

    Cincinnati
    Bengals
    You know you're Number 1.

It had a disco beat to it.

That could be it. I'll have to try to find that and give it a listen. Thanks, chili!

BTW - Do you happen to remember the name of that song? Was it called "Cincinnati Bengals" or something lame like that?

I don't remember the name. sorry. I just put a little google time into it, but couldn't find it. Q102 played it a lot back in the day.

Believe it or not, I have a 45 of a song somewhere at home that was done during that season. I am going to have to search for it. If I find it, I'll give the details!

Re: Bengals Songs from Bootsy Collins

I found the afore-mentioned 45 record at lunch today...

It is called "Ballad of the Bengals". The musicians were Zip Rzeppa (yes, correct spelling) and Rainmaker. I do not have a turntable anymore, so I could not listen to it. The record company is called Championship Records. Both sides of the 45 are the same song. The middle of the 45 is orange with black stripes. It still has a price tag on it, Rike's Dept. Store (now called Macy's after being Lazarus) for $1.39.

This thing has been at the bottom of a box of junk for 23 years or so, but still looks playable! Gee, reminds me (old man) that I need another dose of Geritol.

RFA, that's a great song, but it's not the one I was looking for. However, I googled "Ballad of the Bengals" and found it here...

    http://www.roachii.com/modules.php?o...0&ratetype=num

...and they also happened to have the one I was looking for! "Bengals #1" by Isacc Curtis, Archie Griffin, Reggie Williams, and friends. It's about halfway down the page.

Thanks for all your help, RFA and Chili!
