Scott Stapp from Creed partners with MLB

I find it disturbing that Scott Stapp (formerly of suck rock band Creed) has partnered with MLB and they are now pimpimping him at events and featuring his new solo album on MLB.com

If this is Bud's big plan to get kids interested in MLB again I'm scared.

I'll never forget Stapp's rendition of "God Bless America" during the 2004 World Series. You'd swear he was lip-synching to something Trey Parker recorded for an episode of South Park.

I really wish people would NOT criticize music, artists, bands, etc.... any kind and anyone, not just Stapp.

Music is so subjective that it just doesn't makes sense to me to trash it, or anyone's opinion of it.

I don't like Johnny Cash, but tons of people do. I don't like rap or hip hop, but I'd never say either stinks just because it doesn't appeal to me.

To each his own when it comes to music.

I don't think MLB should "pimp" any one artist's music, no matter who it is, not just because I don't like the band/artist/music being pimped.

This I agree on you with and I do realize musical taste is subjective but honestly I don't have any problem with people criticizing bands or artists. I'm sure there is plenty of stuff in my music collection that many here would find abhorent and frankly I couldn't care less, just as someone who may happen to enjoy Creed shouldn't feel personally attacked if someone doesn't share their appreciation of that band.

I appreciate the time that critics take to actually listen to said bands and offer an intelligent critique. I can't possibly listen to everything thats recorded and the opinions of others have often turned me onto bands I never would have listened to otherwise. I find critics and even the opinions of laymen to be quite valuable.

I'm curious, do you feel this way about books, movies, baseball players, art, video games, etc.?

Well to be fair to TB my saying Creed *sucked* wasn't exactly an "intelligent crtitique", but I have listened to them enough to give one if I was pressed.

I won't press. Refering to Creed as "suck rock band" might not make the cover of Rolling Stone, but it succinctly told me how you felt about the band and that was pretty much all I needed to know. It was funny too.

I wasn't trying to be unfair to TB and certainly hope I didn't come across that way. Just trying to gain some understanding of her opinion.

No worries. Being that I apparently offended someone, I'm just trying to be diplomatic.

In all seriousness though, do bands like Nickleback, Creed, and Godsmack ever sit around and wonder about their embarrasing legacy? Or do they just collect their cash and forget that they are destined to be remembered as fondly as RATT?
This is the time. The real Reds organization is back.

MLB's been pimping Jimmy Buffett on the Red Sox site too.

I'm still undecided if this is a bad thing though.
