A Geek Pursuit Par Excellence: The Best-of-2006 CD

Anyone else do one of these? I'm on my fourth year; it eases the pain I've felt ever since I graduated from college and didn't get to hang around the campus radio station any more. Here are links to the previous three:

    2002 Disc 1
    2002 Disc 2
    2003 Disc 1
    2003 Disc 2
    2004 Disc 1
    2004 Disc 2

My inability to edit means I'll be surpassing KISS any year now in the "double albums released" category. (And I bet I spend as much time on these as they did on theirs....and I'll bet they don't write eight pages of liner notes for each year, either.) Just in case you thought it was just my inanely long threads of baseball minutiae that had this problem... no, it isn't. Someday maybe I'll write a 16732-page autobiography.

As my means have grown in technological sophistication, I've moved from CDs to digital-only iTunes playlists. YouSendIt.com is a website that allows you to email large files (up to 1 GB, I think) to people by giving them a link that's available for seven days.

So, what I'm getting at: anyone want a link to the 2005 edition? It'll be up sometime in the next week or so. I would also encourage anyone who feels like aggregating all their favorite digital-format tunes from the past year to do the same. Send me an email at drscott46@gmail.com if you'd like to be a part of the initial list.

Okay, one more bump. The comp is done and contains a total of 44 songs and a thirteen-page Word file (commentary). Email me at drscott46@gmail.com, or follow the "contact" link from the blog, and I'll send you a pair of email notifications from YouSendIt where you can then download your musical awesomeness.

    2005 Disc 1

    2005 Disc 2

Sarcasm or sincere love? I booted them from the 2005 disc because they were on the 2004 one, and because I think everyone's heard of them by now and their sound hasn't changed much.

Not sure what to make of the fact that after looking thru at 2002-2004 I recognized only 2 artists(3 if that is Eric Idle of Monty Python fame) and zero songs.

Sorry about that, RC. If it helps (or makes it worse), I used to have an "oldies" radio show in college. Lots of Sixties and early-Seventies music.

I did one too! Pedro helped me with the technical stuff

I can send out a link to anybody who's interested. Be warned, though, it's MY best of 2006, not THE best of 2006. So Julie London and Johnny Hartman both make appearances. Also, there are a lot of breakup songs.
There is no such thing as a pitching prospect.

Hey, VP, that's great! I'll definitely want to hear it.

Mine will also be available in cyber form as well... just not quite yet.
