Silver Jews--Dave Berman's getting real close to being better than Black Sabbath

    Beatles

    AC/DC (Bon Scott years exclusively)

    Black Sabbath (Ozzy years exclusively)

    Roxy Music

All of these bands have aged perfectly. And with the exception of AC/DC/ Black Sabbath, they all got out while the gettin' was good. I would include the Rolling Stones or the Pixies and Pavement, but they either went on too long as is the case with the former, or not long enough, the latter.

I'll echo what others have said, that it's impossible to narrow a list down to 5, but what I've done is to list the 5 bands that I've returned to most frequently in my life only to find them in perfect shape each time.
“And when finally they sense that some position cannot be sustained, they do not re-examine their ideas. Instead, they simply change the subject.” Jamie Galbraith

I was like, wow, you like those Aussies!

    I understand now.

LRB was awesome at the time. Crowded House is one of my all-time faves. "Woodface" was gorgeous- "Fall At Your Feet" and the song that had the line, "We owed it all to Frank Sinatra...the song was playng as she came into the room..." And She Goes On, or something like that. Good stuff.

When I see the 2016 Reds, I see a 100 loss team and no direction.
